A Place to Do Your Best Work
Individual creative residencies in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional du Périgord-Limousin.
Residencies designed for creative focus
Whether you need a month of sustained deep work or a shorter creative sprint, Domaine du Banaret offers flexible residencies tailored to your practice and timeline. Work in a quiet environment rooted in the natural and cultural landscape of Périgord, designed to help your project find its direction and depth.
Who it is for
The residency welcomes artists working across all disciplines, including visual arts, writing and poetry, music and sound, ceramics and crafts, performance and movement, and interdisciplinary practice. What matters is not the medium but the commitment: a genuine project and a readiness to work in solitude and nature.
Space designed for creative work
At the heart of the residency is the Atelier, a stone building set directly opposite the gîtes, keeping everything you need within easy reach. The first floor is the Studio: a light-filled, open-plan space of around 120m², warmed by a wood-burning stove and adaptable to virtually any practice, including painting, writing, music, movement, and beyond. On the ground floor, the Wood Workshop offers a more tactile complement for those drawn to working with their hands, alongside a fully equipped bathroom with shower and a laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Beyond the Atelier, residents have access to gardens and walking trails, optional yoga and movement sessions, and the quiet company of a village with a living tradition of crafts and the arts.
Private studio space
Your own dedicated workspace with natural light, storage, and room to work at your pace.
Quiet rural setting
Located in Bussière-Badil, surrounded by countryside. Minimal distractions, maximum focus.
Kitchen and meals
Shared kitchen access and optional prepared meals so you can prioritize your work.
Community without pressure
Connect with other artists through optional group meals and shared spaces on your terms.
Walking paths and grounds
Explore the property, take breaks in nature, and use the space to rest and recharge.
Flexible duration
Stay for a weekend, a week, or longer. Choose the residency length that fits your project.
Rooted in a Living Creative Community
Domaine du Banaret is part of the Association des Ateliers de Bussière-Badil, a network of local artists that offers residents something beyond solitude: genuine connection, dialogue, and exchange with working practitioners. Regular sessions and exhibitions provide natural points of contact without imposing structure on your time. The village is also home to the Marché Céramique de Bussière-Badil, one of the region's most celebrated annual events, drawing ceramicists and craft enthusiasts from across France and beyond. Nearby, the Pôle Expérimental des Métiers d'Art in Nontron (PEMA) extends that creative network further, reflecting the depth of artistic tradition woven into this corner of Périgord. For those interested, there is also the possibility to organise an exhibition at Domaine du Banaret itself, offering a natural conclusion or milestone within a longer residency.
Duration and Pricing
Residencies are flexible in duration and tailored to your project and availability. Pricing is provided upon enquiry.
What Artist Residents Tell Us
If you have a project in mind, we welcome both open enquiries and more detailed proposals.
I arrived depleted. The space, the silence, and Ewa's grounded presence allowed me to reconnect with my work in a way I thought I'd lost. Three weeks became a turning point.
Margot Delorme
Painter, based in Lyon
The residency structure gave me permission to work without the pressure of productivity. I completed pieces I'd been struggling with for months, and discovered new directions too.
Thomas Mercier
Composer and sound artist
What struck me most was the intentional design of the space itself. Every detail supports deep work. The peace here isn't passive; it's active and generative.
Sofia Rossi
Textile artist and designer
Ewa understands the creative struggle because she's lived it. Her psychology background means the support here addresses both the practical and emotional sides of making art.
James Crawford
Photographer and visual artist
I came for two weeks and extended to four. The rhythm here is different. You stop measuring progress in days and start measuring it in depth and clarity.
Aline Fournier
Writer and mixed media artist
